Ceiling Light Fixtures
Outdoor Ceiling Light Fixtures
A big portion of these lights are lanterns, and many lanterns are wall lights, not ceiling lights, but the "Bellagio(TM) Collection 18" High Outdoor Hanging Light" from LampsPlus.com qualifies, as does their Odessa Collection 32 1/2" High Hanging Outdoor Light Fixture. THe Odessa is fit for a palace, with a price to match: $1900 for that fixture. If you want something less luxe try the "La Grange 26 1/2" High Outdoor Hanging Lantern", which would be perfect for a ranch or log home and costs $370 each. The Sage Ridge 20" High Dark Sky Outdoor Hanging Light for $160 has a little bit more of an "in town" feel, but its flexible enough to work with several different decor styles.
Flush Mount Ceiling Fixtures
Lamps Plus has a good selection of flush mount outdoor ceiling light fixtures. Prices start as low as $35 and go up to $680, but you can get a very nice looking light for $150-$250. For modern styling and the platinum finish, the "Burst Aluminum 8" or 10" High Ceiling or Wall Light" is nice. The 10" takes a 75 watt halogen bulb (kind of a disapointment), and it does have the benefit of being okay for indoor or outdoor use, which might make your design plans easier and more consistent. If you want a nautical look, there's a "Bulkhead 10" Wide Satin Steel Round Outdoor Wall Light" which does use a 100 watt bulb. It has a marine grade finish, too, so you can actually use it near the water. At $40 per fixture, its a nice light, but it is for walls. The "Harbor Titanium 7 3/4" High Outdoor Ceiling Light" is just for ceilings and has a similar look.
Directional Spot Lights
These are usually two spot lights or one large square flood light. Colors can be black, white, platinum or sometimes a dark copper. Prices range from $30 to $120. Some include motion detectors, and some don't. My choice would be the Two Light Brushed Nickel Finish Spotlight Motion Sensor from LampsPlus for $80. It takes two 120 watt bulbs, so you actually will get a pretty bright light out of it. It will illuminate an area up to 100 feet wide.
Recessed Lighting
Recessed lighting comes with three different kinds of "trim" or outside edge. "Line Voltage Trim" is used for line household recess housings. "Low Voltage Trim" is for low voltage fixtures (like you would use for solar-powered exterior lights)
and "Flourescent Trim" is for... you guessed it, flourescent bulbs. For outdoor use, you'll want go to Arcadian Lighting, not LampsPlus, as LampsPlus does not have any outdoor recessed lighting.
